I love The Frames

The Frames, the Irish band has been influential in the Dublin rock music scene. The group has released six albums and has existed since 1990.

The name The Frames arose from Hansard's habit, at a young age, of fixing the bicycles of many of his friends. The large number of bicycle frames lying around his house led neighbours to dub it the "house with the frames".
In a 2001 interview, Hansard said, "I worked in a bicycle shop for a little while, but the name came from ... my back garden was so full of frames, my house became known as The Frames house, much to my mother's distaste, she hated it. But my garden was full of frames, old bikes, I would make up bikes for my friends out of all the old bikes. So it sort of became known if anybody found a bike up on the hill on the way home they would throw it into my garden, a graveyard for old bikes."

Enjoy with this video, the song is marvellous! and it received a 2008 Academy Award for Best Original Song and the soundtrack as a whole also received a Grammy nomination.

My opinion about blog, nicenet and classes

I want to answer the last post of Virginia with this comments:

1.THE BLOG PROJECT

I have to admit that inicially the blog was something hard for me. I didn´t know how it works. It was totally new for me.
I discovered step by step to hang photos and videos in it, to write commentaries in other blogs, to do changes in my blog in other that it was nicer.
I have to confess that this Academic Year had been a bit harder because I didn´t have time with my job but finally I achieved time to do my homework and the blog too.
Now, I need to tell you that I love the blog project and I´ll continue writting in my blog and reading my classmates and teacher´s blogs. It was a nice experience, I felt so happy when I had a comment in some post!.
I choose the name klimt-emilie-marie because I like the pictures of Gustav Klimt, Marie and Emilie were the love-muse and wife of Klimt.
It´s a brilliant idea to have a nickname because it´s a mysterious and it´s very exciting to discover in the blog´s party "who is who".
I do have a soft spot for Sand in my shoes blog because there are really interesting and sensitive post in it.
I enjoyed very much reading Carpe Diem, Leire or Some Sketch, but I have to admit that Rip Van Winkle did I was feeling curious for to know its real name. This blog is very interesting, the level of English language is perfect... I didn´t understand how a student could have a level so good at my class, in the other hand there were few corretions of Virginia in its post... Well, finally we discovered the secret of Rip Van Winkle...

2. THE NICENET PAGE

I think that the nicenet is a useful toll for students, it is very complete for us because you can watch films and videos to improve our listening, you can read amusing articles or found recommendations for reading books, newspapers or magazines.
I enjoyed a lot with the Dead Poets Society film , I watched this film several times but in original version is too diferent!. I enjoyed with Maurice film or with the music of Katie Melou.
I used Nicenet often because I needed it to do my homework and because I found always interesting things in it for to watch or read.
I prefer the NICENET TOOL than the TEXT BOOK, I need to tell you that I didn´t like the text book because the explanations of Grammar are awful and I had to check other books of grammar to be able to understand some things or ask them in class.
If the Nicenet had a paragraph of 4º grammar I´m sure that it would be more useful for the students.

3. THE CLASSES

I have enjoyed very much all the classes, specially with the inside stories about our teacher. I remember when she told us anecdotes about her life in USA, it was so interesting to listen to her!
Also, I remember when Obama won the elections in USA, the conversations in class were very passionate with my classmates and our teacher.
We not only learned English in this Academic Year with our teacher, we learned things about life, art, healthy food, music, literature, films...
I learned from my classmates to see our DNA in a little test tube, to know that I can adopt a tortoise, to know the orings of soul music, the life in El Salvador... We share a lot of things together because we just hit it off immediately!

Thanks Teacher! Thanks Classmates!

DO YOU WANT TO INTERVIEW OUR TEACHER?

Dear classmates,
We know in this course we have a different teacher, she obtains maximum "audience" in her class, she achieves that her students do homeworks when we don´t have time, she achieves we make new things (like this, our blogs).
What is the secret of our Teacher? Why does she obtein always our attention? Why does she make inspire us?, well, I have an idea!! : Why don´t we do an interview our teacher?
Next 27th will be her last class in the EOI, we can to do this interview this day, on internet you can found information about her works, it´s very intersting, if you put her name in google you can found some information for your questions.

Well, this is the question now:

- Teacher, Do you grant an interview to us?

Please, no yellow questions, well if Nuria wants to answer ...

I´ll wait your commets.

Thanks!!

"SICKO"

Yesterday I watched a TV film named Jhon Q, tell the story about a father whose insurance won´t cover his son´s heart transplant, takes the hospital´s emergency room hostage until the doctors agree to perform the operation. It´s a real weepie, but I don´t want to tell you about this film, I want to show you a interesting documentary film named "Sicko" by Michael Moore, in this documentary comparing the higly profitable American health care industry to other nations (Cube, France, Canada, United Kingdom). In this film you see the horror stories about some americans, it's not about the 47 million Americans who don't have health insurance, it's about some of the 250 million who have health insurance and in spite of this their lives were ruined. Please watch these videos...

My left foot

I read an article a few days ago about the physical disability in children and it reminded me of this movie that I saw some years ago, I cryed a lot with this film it´s a real weepie (I learned this expression today in class!). It tells the story of Christy Brown, an Irishman with a cerebal palsy who could only control his left foot. This film won several Academy Awards in 1989.It starts Dany Day-Lewis, I loved him in this film!

Love song

I found this video in you tube and I want to share it with you, if you have had a stressful day, it will help you relax with the landscapes and the melody (it´s a song by Luar na Lubre, I like so much this group)

Canto de andar : Luar na lubre

TOBLERONE CHEESECAKE

Hi! This recipe gave to me one of our classmate, I have proved it and it is ummmmmm. I hope you like it!
Toblerone is a delicious chocolate candy bar made in Switzerland. It is made of Swiss chocolate, honey and almond nougat, you can make a delicious cake with these bars of candy. Read the recipe, it is very simple!

INGREDIENTS:
1 cup of chocolate digestive biscuits, crushed
1/3 cup of butter, melted
2* 8 oz packages of cream cheese
1/2 cup of sugar
1/2 cup thickened cream or heavy cream
200g Toblerone chocolate bars, melted

DIRECTIONS:
Melt the 1/3 cup of butter
Crush chocolate biscuits into crumbs
Mix together the chocolate biscuits crumbs and melted butter. Press mixture into bottom of a lightly greased 9 inch springform pan, place in refrigerator to chill.
Beat the cream cheese with an electric mixer for 2 minutes or until smooth.
Place the chocolate in a small saucepan or in the top of a double boiler on low heat an melt the 100g of toblerone, stirring constantly.
Add the sugar, melted toblerone and cream to cream cheese and continue beating until thoroughly combined and very smooth.
Remove cheesecake base from refrigerator and spoon mixture into base.
Smooth top of cake with spatula.
Refrigerate for at least 4 hours or overnight. The longer you leave the cheesecake in the refrigerator, the firmer it will be; 12 hours or overnight is best!
